HOW AUTOMATED TEST ENGINEER SUPPORT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT - Work with a team of systems engineers and software developers to specify, design, develop, test and deploy the end-state system. Development will take place in an iterative fashion using scrum techniques with inputs from multiple stakeholders. The work will be done in a dynamic stakeholder environment within AWS. Communicate with team leads and senior leadership and rapidly adjust direction in support of new and/or changing requirements. This effort will include a variety of activities, including:
- Developing test plans based on software requirements and technical specifications.
- Identifying new test scenarios and create detailed test cases to cover all aspects of the software.
- Performing functional, regression, integration, usability, and performance testing as necessary.
- Documenting defects and track them to resolution.
- Working closely with team members to clarify requirements and resolve issues
- Test Data Creation
- Familiar with the creation and updating of various file formats (e.g. XML, JSON, CSV, Microsoft Excel)
- Programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL) commonly used for data manipulation and generation.
- Scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) commonly used to automate routine tasks.
- Working with databases and SQL for querying, inserting, and updating data as part of the generation process.
- Assessing quality and validity of generated data.
- Addressing challenges in data generation, such as generating data in formats suitable for specific applications.
- Documenting data generation processes, including parameters used, assumptions made, and transformations applied.
- Automated Software Testing
- Working with test automation tools (e.g. Selenium WebDriver, Appium, Cypress, JMeter) to validate web-based applications.
- Working with automation frameworks (e.g. JUnit, TestNG, NUnit, Protractor, PyTest) to test custom applications.
- Understanding how to test headless applications using application programming interfaces (e.g. REST).
- Debugging automated test scripts and understand application logs and error messages to pinpoint issues.
- Working with large and small teams of software developers as part of an Agile process.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. GitHub, GitLab) for managing code and collaborating with other team members.
- Working with CI/CD products (e.g. Jenkins, AWS Pipeline, Azure DevOps) and integrating automated tests into the CI/CD process.
- Working within cloud-based platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure)
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: - Education : Bachelors Degree (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline)
- Required Experience : 6+ yrs
- Technical skills:
- Knowledge of testing and automated testing approaches
- Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of testing in a cloud architecture
- Willingness and ability to stay updated with advancements in software testing, data creation techniques, tools, and best practices.
- Security Clearance Level : TS/SCI with active polygraph
- Location : Bethesda, MD or Herndon, VA - On Customer Site

The likely salary range for this position is $157,250 - $212,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
