Summary of Position The Psychology Department at Red Rocks Community College is looking for Instructors to predominately teach online courses both that are "home" RRCC courses, as well as part of the Colorado Online course offerings. The Department is also looking for part-time instructors who can teach on ground courses Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise.
This position reports to the department chair and has no supervisory responsibilities. Duties include teaching in various modalities (in-person, hybrid, remote, hyflex, concurrent, or online), conducting student assessments, and ensuring courses meet approved outcomes and outlines. Instruction may take place on days, evenings, or weekends, with up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. Responsibilities also involve applying culturally responsive education and fostering inclusive learning environments.
Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work from campus (primarily our Lakewood campus with occasional hours at the Arvada campus).
- Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and typically underrepresented groups.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate.
- Knowledge of computer applications. Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of instructional objectives and course development techniques.
- Skills with managing, preparing, and delivering courses in the classroom and in the field.
- Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Have some knowledge working with D2L or a similar LMS
Required Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Psychology or in an APA recognized subfield/specialty in professional psychology OR Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Fifteen (15) semester credit hours teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
- Three years in teaching and academic leadership role in a community college or similar academic setting.
- Experience with a wide range of students at the community college level or in a comparable setting.
- Experience in program and curriculum development.
- Experience teaching with technology, in alternative formats. Experience in at least two of the following: curriculum development.

- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Hourly Pay
The pay for this position is $1,149.00 - $1,263.00 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Sick leave is granted in accordance with , accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security.
