Our CPA firm has been serving the Southwest Florida (Sarasota) community for over 60 years. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Tax Preparer to join our team! The ideal candidate would have a Florida CPA license or Enrolled Agent, and 10 or more years of experience in audit and public accounting.

Job Description: Senior Tax Accountant

In this position, you will be preparing and conducting Compilations/Reviews/Audits, personal/business/non -profit/fiduciary tax returns, and client write-up. You will need to collaborate and communicate with employees and clients to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions. This position requires interacting and assisting clients through tax planning, consulting, and regulatory tax compliance for complex returns. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good client relations and the ability to communicate clearly.

Duties:
  • Experience conducting external audits of client records would be an asset.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual client write-up bookkeeping.
  • Prepare tax returns for individuals and organizations, research tax questions, offer suggestions for tax planning, and study tax law for potential tax savings.
  • Determine tax liability by interpreting tax regulations; computing taxes; completing tax returns.
  • Examining and discussing tax consequences of various financial options; recommending optimal course of action. Recommends strategies to minimize tax liability by studying tax regulations, searching out and evaluating tax options. Ability to support tax stance with multiple sources of research.
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns by collecting, analyzing, and formatting financial information from clients.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local tax requirements by studying existing regulations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions; filing required financial and related information.
  • Maintains knowledge of tax requirements by studying new tax regulations and directives; obtaining tax opinions and interpretations; attending tax seminars; studying proposed tax legislation.
  • Reconcile and prepare special tax reports by collecting and analyzing financial and related information.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping tax information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Maintain required CPE for a Florida CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ Years of Public Accounting Experience with tax return preparation for individuals.
  • Florida CPA license in good standing with the AICPA or IRS Enrolled Agent
  • Education: BA in Accounting or MA in Taxation and current audit standards/guidelines
  • Strong working knowledge of complex tax laws. Strong leadership & personal management skills. Excellent knowledge of Tax Preparation, Accounting, Reporting Skills, Forecasting, Financial Planning and Strategy, Analyzing Information, Research Skills, Legal Compliance, Objectivity, Thoroughness, Results Driven. Group communication working well with others, open to constructive feedback and new processes. Analytical skills and detail oriented, deadline oriented. Work closely with a team of other tax professionals.
  • Software: Lacerte Tax, QuickBooks, CCH Practice Management for Time Entry, Microsoft Office.

 

Availability

  • Weekdays; Monday - Friday; 9am to 5pm
  • Required: Tax Season with increased hours (January – April 15th, and September – October 15th)
